Apart from an official Daimler-Chrysler video, given to me by a Jeep dealer, which states that the QuadraDrive system will transfer 100% of engine torque to any one wheel, the wheel with the most grip, I have seen hardcopy literature making similar claims and also found numerous links to this on the net. Here are some of them. From Daimler-Chrysler's promotional video on the WJ: From Daimler-Chrysler's jeep.com web site: From Daimler-Chrysler's press kit: Lots more from various other sites:
"As mentioned, the Quadra Drive system can distribute up to 100% of the power to
one wheel, if necessary."
"The Quadra-Drive system combines the Quadra- Trac II transfer case and Vari-Lok
axles and is able to send nearly 100 percent of the developed engine torque to
just one wheel, if necessary."
"The new Quadra-Drive four- wheel-drive system is a work of genius, providing
the wheel that has traction with up to 100 percent of available power."
"... the gerotor coupling can transfer nearly 100 percent of the developed
engine torque to just one front wheel ..."
"It allows virtually a 100 percent transfer of developed engine torque to a
single wheel on or off road to keep the Grand Cherokee moving while maintaining
driver control when a traction situation looks almost hopeless. "
"... this full-time system in essence allows nearly 100 percent of available
torque to be delivered to the wheel that has traction."
"There, the gerotor coupling can transfer nearly 100 percent of the developed
engine torque to just one front wheel, if necessary, to maintain traction."
"This is the first system of its kind enabling 100% of the developed engine
torque to be transferred to any one individual wheel without the use of
electronics. Pretty neat huh?"
"Since Quadra-Drive is capable of transferring 100 % of the developed engine
torque to any one wheel, even three wheels on ice would stop the all-new Grand
Cherokee ."
"This allows the Quadra Trac II system to send up to 100 percent of engine
torque to just one wheel, if the other wheels have no traction."
"It adds Vari-Lock Axles at the front and rear, so that if only one wheel has
traction, it will allow almost 100% of the engine power to go that wheel."
"Essentially this system allows all the drive to be diverted to one wheel..."
"Quadra-Drive allows virtually 100 percent transfer of torque to a single wheel
while driving on-or off-road, giving maximum control in any situation."
"... so that if only one wheel has traction, it will allow almost 100% of the
engine power to go that wheel."
"This industry-first allows virtually 100- percent transfer of developed torque
to a single wheel..."
"Its most sophisticated of the three - called Quadra-Drive - directs as much as
100 per cent of vehicle power to just one wheel if that's where the traction
is."
"The Quadra-Drive 4WD system utilizes front and rear Vari-Lok axles that can
transfer 100 percent of engine torque to a single wheel, keeping the Jeep moving
along, provided one of the wheels has traction."
"... new for 1999, was Jeep's permanently engaged Quadra-Drive, which could send
100 percent of the engine's power to any wheel at any time."
"... the gerotor coupling can transfer nearly 100 percent of the developed
engine torque to just one front wheel ..." |
